We get it — “organic” has become one of those words that shows up everywhere, from cereal boxes to cotton socks. But at Wild Harmony Farm, organic certification isn’t a marketing buzzword. It’s a commitment we live out every single day.
We've been advised by numerous consultants to give up our certification because the price premium doesn't justify the increase in costs. But my response is always the same:
"I'd rather close down the farm."
So how does organic certification affect your food?
🌱 **No shortcuts, no secret ingredients.**
Organic certification means our animals are raised without synthetic pesticides, GMOs, hormones, or antibiotics — ever. That’s peace of mind for your plate.
🐄 **Healthy soil = healthy food.**
To be certified organic, our pastures must meet strict standards that protect biodiversity, build soil health, and keep harmful chemicals out of waterways. It’s about regenerating the land, not depleting it.
🤝 **Transparency you can trust.**
When you see that USDA Organic seal, you know we’ve opened our farm to third-party inspection — every year. It’s accountability, not just talk.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We didn’t get certified to chase a trend. We did it because we believe you deserve to know your food is raised with integrity, from the ground up.
The kicker for us is that conventional grains and even non-GMO grains are sprayed with glyphosate (a known carcinogen) immediately before harvesting to ensure that every kernel dries at the same rate, so that it will store longer.
I don't want to feed that to our animals. And I don't want to eat meat from animals that are fed that.
Organic certification ensures trust, transparency, and the kind of food system we all want to be a part of. And the USDA regulations, honestly, aren't strict enough, so on top of that we are also Real Organic Project certified, which takes it all a step further. More on that in a future article.
Thanks,
- The Wild Harmony Farm Team
P.S. We have an exciting announcement coming in a few weeks about some NEW CERTIFIED ORGANIC TREATS!!!
