Frequently Asked Questions
How is your meat raised? Are your farm practices humane & organic?
At Wild Harmony Farm, we are dedicated to raising meat lovingly, humanely, and with integrity. We raise our animals on pasture and we practice rotational grazing — good for the land, good for the animals, and good for you!
Our beef is 100% grass-fed, 100% of the time. During the growing season, the cattle are moved every day to fresh grass on our certified organic pastures, and fed only organic hay (dried grass) during the winter. Our cattle are renowned for high-quality meat that finishes with excellent flavor and tenderness without any grain.
Our chickens are raised by our partner farm, Normanton Farms in nearby Litchfield, NH. Farmer Steve Normanton and his team raise these amazing chickens following certified organic practices, supplementing their grazing with with organic grain. They travel across the lush pastures along a beautiful river in a contraption called a "chicken schooner" that we move daily to fresh grass. They get the best of all worlds — fresh pasture, sunshine, shade, and fresh air. Our local poultry processor is not certified organic. However, we’ve inquired about their practices and it’s our understanding that they technically would qualify for certification, just choose to skip the paperwork.
Our pigs are raised on pasture and certified organic from start to finish. They are born on Wild Harmony Farm in the fresh air, where the mothers are never confined by gestation or farrowing crates. We use their natural tendencies to help build soil and regenerate the land on our farm. Berkshires are known for outstanding flavor and marbling. Some of our sausage recipes cannot be certified organic because not all of the ingredients or spices are organic, even though the pork is organic.
We never cut corners, ever. Fill your freezer with food you can feel good about!
How many items should I order?
You can subscribe to as many different items as you like, and then choose the quantity for each item, based on your preferences and the size of your household.
You’ll see the estimated number of servings per week on each item, and you can add as many items as you like to your cart to achieve just the right number of servings for your needs. Here are a few ideas:
- Family of 4 with small kids? If you cook dinner a few times per week and enjoy protein at every meal, you might want 10-12 servings per week. If you only get a chance to cook a couple times per week with no leftovers, targeting 5-6 servings per week may be a good fit.
- Family of 4 with hungry teens? If you cook dinner a few times per week and enjoy protein at every meal, you might want 16-20 servings per week. If you only get a chance to cook a couple times per week with no leftovers, targeting 8-10 servings per week may be a good fit.
- Single person who’s an avid gym goer or paleo fan? You might want 10-14 servings per week.
- Single flexitarian? If you believe in the mantra, eat less meat, eat better meat, you might enjoy 3-5 servings per week.
- Couple? If your goal is to prepare 4 simple home-cooked meals per week, or 2 big meals with leftovers, you might choose 7-9 servings per week.
Are you in transition? If you’re hoping to transition from processed convenience foods, eating out, or fast food, and you have a dream of cooking at home more — keep in mind that cooking doesn’t have to be a big production. You can keep it simple with basic recipes, and we’ll even send you recipes every month to help you achieve your goal of regular home-cooked meals.
Why become a CSA member?
- Set it & forget it: As a CSA member, you know your freezer will always be well stocked with nutrient-dense proteins! While we offer some cuts to non-members for one-off purchase, the selection is smaller and may dwindle at the end of the season. Meantime, members will have the best selection and will enjoy well-stocked freezers all year long.
- Eat well: We’ll send you recipes and cooking tips each month to help you prepare wholesome meals with less effort.
- Feel good: Our meat is the real deal. You’ll be keeping the local food system strong now and for future generations. As for flavor, nutrient density, and humane practices — you’ll be enjoying meat that is far superior to anything you’ll find at the grocery store or on a big brand website. No greenwashing here!
- Visit the farm: We host a number of events each year that are only available to CSA members. We love getting to know you personally!
- VIP access: You’ll also get access to the most popular cuts, which are not available to other customers (bacon, chicken breasts, pork tenderloin, steaks…).
How will I get my order?

You don’t need to be home when we deliver, but it is very important to leave out a cooler to keep your frozen meat nice and frozen.
FREE DELIVERY for orders over $200
Customers who choose farm pickup are welcome to stop by our self-serve farm store shed on any day/time, starting on the first of the month. Each CSA member will be assigned a pin number to access the shed. Your pin is the last 4 digits of the phone number you listed to place the order. Our pick-up shed is located onsite at our farm:

Are there other ways to buy from your local farm?
You can order a grass-fed quarter cow or organic pastured half hog (known as a bulk order) at certain times of the year. Sign up for emails and we’ll notify you when the next order period opens!
You can also order from a limited selection of favorite cuts — checkout online and pickup at the farm (366 C Victory Highway, Exeter, RI). The selection is smaller, does not include certain high-demand items, and may dwindle at the end of the season.
Farm customers who subscribe to the CSA or order a quarter cow or half hog will have the best selection and will enjoy well-stocked freezers all year long.
Is the meat refrigerated or frozen? How much freezer space do I need?
All of our meat is flash-frozen at peak freshness. Our little Rhode Island farm supplies some of our region's highest acclaimed chefs, and they rave about the freshness and quality. It will be light years ahead of anything from a large-scale distributor, and since it’s frozen rather than refrigerated, you’ll have plenty of flexibility in choosing when to prepare each item.
A month’s worth of pasture-raised pork, chicken and grass-fed beef will fit in your typical freezer space. If your freezer is currently full of who knows what, it may be time for a fresh start :)
Do you reserve my selected products indefinitely?
We may run out of items and we will automatically replace it with the closest item. You will still have the opportunity to alter your order before it is processed.
To ensure that your freezer stays full, bulk ordering is the best way to go.
